practicing sunday sites
@ extra practice
5-2-2023
this is a sunday site by
algae.
today sunday sites gathered at extra practice in rotterdam.
a lot of new and old friends came by! 14 of them, can you believe it?
their sites will be posted to sundaysites.cafe soon.
i love gathering.
tiana
today i am a host. one thing i know i'm working on is giving context. i'm
not really sure how to introduce an event — i also didn't really introduce
extra practice and html.energy at the beginning, haha. maybe i'll do that
at show and tell. it's hard to introduce an event like susi because it
feels quite up to the visitors interpretation.
i'm glad a nice group of people showed up, and it's nice to see what sort
of kind souls susi attracts. susi is special to me in that a lot of the
gathering is spent in your own individual focus zone. i think it makes
such a social setting feel less draining... we can be quiet! and we can
also talk whenever we want to.
i want to do more irl crafty gatherings, susi or otherwise. while meeting
new people can be a little spooky, ultimately it adds so much goodness to
my life. i am lucky to be me — someone who often has uplifting people
around.
stefa
stefa has a nice jacket and does cool volunteer work.
ben
ben types with 2 fingers only.
emma
emma taught me how to use the coffee maker thing.
ceola
i helped ceola learn the basics of HTML and she is a natural.
kirsten
kirsten was excited when i offered her some apple slices and grapes.
gijs
gijs told me he was off to a slow start.
jack
jack told me about a book called ways of seeing things which
sounds familiar but now i have truly been called to read it.
elliott
elliott came with no ideas for his site, anything could happen!
nami & camilo
nami and camilo both found out about susi from an old professor of theirs,
menetta berends! how nice.
pablo
pablo lives in france!!! but he came to rotterdam just for this! how
special.
chae
chae has some really cool visuals going on so far. i'm excited to see her
site...
jonah
jonah came a bit later and i was in a bit of a daze and offered him a
chair but it was in an awkward spot and i didn't notice until ben
commented, hah. all sorted now, phew.
michelle
michelle came a bit later so i wonder what she might make with less time!
maybe she will make a site or maybe she will just lift our spirits with
her presence.
in reflection... i liked that this event felt more like a hang out than
anything. it was nice to just make something based off a prompt together,
and to see what each of our unique minds came up with. since many of us
are new friends who just met at this event, it was nice to learn a little
bit about each other from how each person crafted their site. everyones
sites were so heartfelt, truly made with love and care even though we only
had about two hours to make the sites. i'm excited to keep in touch with
everyone who came out to xp on this beautiful february day.
